The Bay fundraises a total of £8,366 for the local community

We’re big believers in giving back at The Bay Fish and Chips, which is why we launched our community fundraising initiative in 2020.

We’re donating every 20p bag charge we receive for online orders at The Bay Fish and Chips to charity or local groups.

Thank you to everyone who nominated charities, community groups or causes that would benefit from the donations we will be working our way through this list.

June 2022: Stonehaven Horizon group

In June, we have worked hard to raise £375 for the Horizon Group in Stonehaven. They are an amazing voluntary group who aim to improve Stonehaven town, making it a better place to work and live in for the local community. Through their donations, they are able to help the community through maintaining floral displays; working with school eco-groups and reducing the amount of litter in the town – which is something we strive towards in protecting the environment here at The Bay.

A huge thank you to everyone that helped us along the way.

May 2022: Scotland’s Mental Health

During May we have also been working hard to raise £430 for SAMH – Scotland’s Mental
Health – a wonderful charity that provides resources for people with mental
health problems. They’re also committed to helping bring about change in
Scotland and the UK in four main policy areas: Access to Services, Support
and Treatment, Work and Finances, Rights and Promoting Good Mental Health.

April 2022: MS Trust

In April, we raised a fantastic £600 for the MS Trust, when Calum and his wife Viktorija took part in ‘Miles for MS’ in honour of Calum’s sister who has been living with MS for the past 15 years. The walk took place on 18th April and spanned an impressive 96 miles with camping along the way! For more information, please take a look at our blog, where Calum talks about why he decided to take part and what health and wellbeing means to him: https://bit.ly/3wulLxa

The MS Trust itself is an amazing charity that is committed to ensuring everyone with Multiple Sclerosis can access the treatments and services they need and deserve. There is also a real focus on ensuring that all voices and viewpoints are heard, so that everyone who needs their services and support – including Black, Asian and minority ethnic people, LGBTQ+ people, and people living with disabilities has the help they need. The charity supports those who are suffering from the disease. However, most of the funds raised for the charity are invested into research around MND, in the hopes a cure can be, as it is currently an incurable. For more information, please visit: https://www.myname5doddie.co.uk/
