As this week is Living Wage Week, we thought we\u2019d take a look at our journey as to how and why we introduced the Real Living Wage at The Bay Fish and Chips.<\/p>\n
When the Living Wage scheme launched, it highlighted the widening gap between the National Living Wage and the Real Living Wage.<\/p>\n
At The Bay, we couldn\u2019t work out why when the cost of living continues to rise, salaries do not increase to support workers? So we decided to do something about it.<\/p>\n
This year, we became the first fish and chip shop in the UK to provide our staff with the Real Living Wage.<\/p>\n
We believe people should be paid what they\u2019re worth regardless of age or gender, and we champion a fairer pay system.<\/p>\n
The Bay Fish and Chips received an official accreditation from the Living Wage Foundation and joined the Living Wage Hospitality Steering Group to help increase the wages of Scotland\u2019s lowest paid workers.<\/p>\n
We hope this will encourage other fish and chip shops to join in with offering the Real Living Wage to workers. The industry is heading in the right direction but it has to maintain a collaborative approach.<\/p>\n
The future looks promising for organisations, employees and consumers, we just need to continue to champion the brands that are leading the way.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
