I won’t mention the C-word but we all know this year’s been a pretty weird one.

Despite all the challenges, I feel like Team Bay really pulled together working under new conditions and safety measures to still make sure our customers were served on time, every time.

There’s also been plenty to celebrate – from awards and industry accreditations to shop renovations.

I’ve taken a quick look back at some of the key 2020 memories and moments that stand out to me…

We started the year off on a high with a shop refurbishment back in Jan, installing a brand new range and filtration system to help make the shop more eco-friendly.

The new range has allowed us to offer continuous gluten free fish and chips alongside our regular menu without the risk of cross contamination all day, every day. It’s been hugely popular with our customers all year.

We also fitted a window hatch with intention to begin a Click & Collect service at some point.

The highs continued as The Bay Fish & Chips was recognised in Visit Scotland’s ‘Taste our Best’ award for 2020/21. The scheme celebrates businesses who serve up locally sourced, quality food and drink.

After initially closing the shop at the start of lockdown, our newly installed window hatch allowed us the ability to launch a delivery service at The Bay.

After setting up online ordering on our website, we partnered with local taxi firm Dash Cabs to offer customers the ability to pre-order food for delivery from our website.

Although we had to overcome the initial challenge of separating the team into two working bubbles, it felt great to be back in the shop cooking again.

Just in time for summer we launched Click & Collect at The Bay Fish & Chips.

After testing the new safety measures and processes with the team through delivery, we felt confident in expanding to also offer collection. It also gave customers more flexibility as to when and where they could enjoy our fish and chips.

With only a certain amount of both Click & Collect and delivery slots available each day, we found more often than not that all of our spaces sold out well in advance.

A little later than normal, we still managed to celebrate National Fish and Chips Day at The Bay with 10% off all orders online.

It felt like a slice of normality after a strange few months and was great to see the industry across the UK unite to celebrate the day.

January started with our shop refit

March gave us a new accreditation

April saw our delivery service launch

June began with the launch of our Click & Collect

September celebrated our favourite national day

November finished with us winning an award
