Fish Policy
We are at the forefront of seeking and using fully sustainable and traceable fish on our menu at the bay. We are the first fish and chip shop in the UK to gain MSC chain of custody to sell Scottish north sea haddock on our menu.
Our chain of custody number is MEP-OLA-004.
This mean all our haddock products are traceable from sea to plate and we keep full records of this and they can be produced at any time if required.
As more fish gets certified by MSC we will use them when possible.
We do not demand fish for our special board but request it, so our fish supplier Danny couper can go to the market and buy us what is good on the day.
We keep a full record of our fish supplier couper seafoods ltd , we have all his MSC and Salsa certificates and also letters from him telling The Bay his intentions on supplying us top class sustainable seafood.
All fish is bought using MCS guide fish to eat fish to avoid, to ensure we only buy from sustainable grounds and sustainable species which are in season using MCS phone APP. green means good, amber means think about it and red means not sustainable.
All our fish is caught in the wild if not it will be marked with (F) to inform you it is from sustainable farmed sources.
The key is local and seasonal fish, which is fresh and sustainable.
